Christopher Evers, of North Salem, was stopped around 1:20 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, on Route 7 in the area of Blue Ridge Road for failing to display registration, said the Wilton Police Department.

During the stop, Evers was found to be driving a Toyota minivan with an expired NY temporary plate and no insurance. Upon speaking with Evers he displayed signs of impairment suspected to be resulting from alcohol, police said.

Evers was placed into custody after failing standard field sobriety testing to standard and refused to take a breath test, they added.

He was charged with drunk driving, driving with an expired tag, driving without insurance, and driving without plates. He was released after posting $260 bond.

Evers is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 17.
